DESCRIPTION

Eine neue Serie kündigt die schottischen Islay-Destillerie Ardbeg an: Ardbeg Anthology heißt die Kollektion, mit experimentellen Single Malts aus besonderen Fässern.

Der erste Release ist Ardbeg The Harpy's Tale und ist der Auftakt zu einer dreiteiligen Serie (Anthology = literarischer Sammelband). Jeder Ardbeg der Anthology-Serie vereint zwei Wesen in sich, genau wie die mystischen Fabelwesen der griechischen Sagen.

‚The Harpy‘ übersetzt die Harpyie - ein sagenumwobenes Tier aus der antiken Mythologie, das halb Mensch, halb Vogel ist - hat eine verblüffende Ähnlichkeit mit diesem Whisky, der von seiner Natur her schwer fassbar und vom Stil her komplex ist.

Ein Whisky der 13 Jahre in zweierlei Fässern reifte und anschließend vermählt wurde: Sauternes-Fässern (selten&begehrt bringt Süße) und Ex-Bourbon (klassische Ardbeg Rauchigkeit).

Ein ultimativer Ardbeg, der ein Wechselspiel aus kräftigem Rauch und reicher Süße erzeugt. Als Hommage an diesen ungewöhnlichen „hybriden“ Stil ist Name und Verpackung gestaltet: ein Fabelwesen, halb Mensch, halb Vogel von alter Mythologie.

TASTING NOTES
Nase
Nose		 Sehr ausgeprägt ölig, mit Noten von Olivenöl Extra Vergine, Bruyere- Wurzelholz, aromatischen Kräutern wie Koriander und Salbei, ein Hauch geräucherter Zitronenzeste. Ein Spritzer Wasser setzt weitere Öligkeit frei, wie von Leinöl, mit leichter Wachsigkeit, aromatische Karbolseife und etwas Crème Brûlée.
Gaumen
Palate		 Eine weiche, ölige Textur mit reichhaltigem, süß-rauchigem Geschmack. Noten von Eichenmoos, Melasse, Anisbonbons mit einem schönen, süß-holzigen Balsamico-Ton, Aromen geräucherter Aprikosen und Eukalyptusöl folgen.
Abgang
Finish		 Langanhaltend, süß-rauchig, mit etwas Kreuzkümmel, Kardamom und einer Spur Kokosnuss.

    Ardbeg's pioneering spirit extends beyond traditional whisky-making. In 2011, the distillery sent 20 vials of Ardbeg spirit and wood particles to the International Space Station, showcasing its commitment to innovation. Despite its international fame, Ardbeg remains deeply rooted in its local community, employing around sixty staff members who reside locally.

    Operating with two pot stills, Ardbeg produces approximately 10,000 casks (1.4 million liters) of spirit annually. The name 'Ardbeg,' derived from the Scottish Gaelic 'An Àird Bheag,' meaning 'The small headland,' is not just a name but a testament to the distillery's connection to the land and community.
