  • Glendalough - Irish Whiskey

The Glendalough Distillery, an Irish craft distillery in County Wicklow on the east coast of Ireland, is an innovative company that produces whiskey, gin, and poitín. The name Glendalough, which means "valley of two lakes" in Irish Gaelic, reflects the picturesque beauty of the location.

The distillery was founded in 2011 by five friends from Dublin and Wicklow who aimed to participate in the revival of Irish whiskey and realize their dream of a small, innovative distillery.

Glendalough is known for its single malt whiskeys, available in various ages, characterized by a full and balanced body with soft vanilla and oat notes. The distillery also offers a Doublecask Single Grain Whiskey.

As a relatively new distillery established in 2014, the first whiskey bottlings came from barrels sourced from other distilleries, while the poitín is already produced in-house and is distinguished by fruity berry notes with a peppery, spicy finish.

The production facilities of Glendalough, made by the renowned German company Arnold Holstein GmbH, allow for the production of high-quality whiskey with clear mountain spring water from the Wicklow Mountains. Besides whiskey, the distillery also produces gin and the traditional Irish spirit poitín, distilled from various grains as well as potatoes and sugar beets or molasses. The mild coastal climate conditions on the east coast of Ireland provide optimal control over the barrel aging process.
